How to Use Playlist Markers and Song Sections in FL Studio
Stay organized by labeling your song sections. Learn how to use Playlist markers to navigate your FL Studio projects faster.
Markers are visual labels in the Playlist that help you identify sections like the Chorus or Bridge. They make navigating large projects faster and allow for quick jumping between song parts.
Follow these steps
Position the Playhead
Place the playhead (the vertical line) at the exact bar where your new section begins. Ensure your snap settings are active for precision.
Add a Time Marker
Press 'Alt + T' on your keyboard or go to the Playlist menu and select 'Time markers' > 'Add one'. A dialogue box will appear.
Name Your Section
Type the name of the section, such as 'Chorus 1' or 'Drop', and hit Enter. The marker will now appear at the top of the timeline.
Manage Your Markers
Click and drag markers to move them if your arrangement changes. You can also right-click a marker to change its type to 'Loop' or 'Skip'.
Common mistakes
- Placing markers mid-bar, which can make loops and jumps sound disjointed.
- Using too many markers, which clutters the interface and makes navigation harder.
