How to Export WAV and MP3 Files from FL Studio

Master the FL Studio export window to create high-quality WAVs for mastering and MP3s for sharing. Learn the best settings for both.

Exporting converts your project into a single audio file that can be played on any device. Choosing the right format ensures you maintain audio quality while managing file size.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the Export Dialog

Go to the File menu, select Export, and choose your desired format. You can select both WAV and MP3 simultaneously in the export dialog.

  2. Configure Format Settings

For WAV, select '32-bit float' or '24-bit' and choose 'Project Settings' for the sample rate. For MP3, set the bitrate to '320kbps' for the best quality.

  3. Set the Render Range

Ensure 'Mode' is set to 'Full Song' and 'Tail' is set to 'Leave Remainder' so your reverb echoes don't cut off abruptly.

  4. Initiate the Render

Click 'Start' and wait for the progress bar to finish. Avoid using your computer for heavy tasks during this time to prevent CPU glitches.

Common mistakes

  • Exporting at a low bitrate MP3 (like 128kbps) for a final release.
  • Forgetting to select 'Full Song' instead of 'Pattern' in the export window.
